Kirkham’s Pilot Historic England Project HAZ 2019/ 2020
Positive Placemakers were commissioned by Fylde Borough Council to undertake this project. The aim was to raise awareness, delivery a high-quality cultural programme that would celebrate local heritage, build capacity and connect a community, while also animating the high street. Creating a better sense of place and ownership of the public realm, while delivering health and wellbeing opportunities.
• Develop and facilitate a cultural consortium
• Develop a Website & Social media platforms
• Facilitate a co design approach to a cultural programme.
• Develop a shared vision, implementation plan and creative briefs that would enable a co-create approach.
• Facilitate a procurement process to engaged creative professionals.
• Deliver an inclusive high quality engagement programme, that would overcome the challenges presented by the pandemic.
Working To The Future
A cultural consortium was established, that included representatives from local businesses, key stakeholders and local cultural organisations, including passionate individuals living or working in Kirkham.
A co-create, high quality, inclusive engagement programme that resulted in events that connected the community, enriched lives and provided health and wellbeing opportunities. The resulting work celebrated heritage and created a better sense of place while also animating the high street. Positive Placemakers CIC, facilitated a procurement procedure, with representatives from the community and local business.
The project delivered all the original outcomes and more, developed new networks, partnerships and new ways of working. It was a very successful pilot that led to the securing of a three-year Cultural Programme.
